What Lilly says
Christian Astrology, Chap. XXVIII, p.177 (1647 ed.) — verdict: Favorable
A London tradesman asked in 1634 whether he would grow rich, by what means, when, and whether it would last. Lilly took Venus, ruling the ascendant, for the man, and Mars -- ruler of the 2nd house and disposer of the Part of Fortune, angular in the east -- for his wealth, and read the Moon separating from Mars and carrying his light across to Venus, a translation of light, as the promise of riches. He judged yes: the man would be rich, though 'with labour and care' since Mars is peregrine, and best by marrying a woman who would bring him a good fortune. It held -- a portion with his wife inside two years, and a great estate by 1640.
What the engine says
Querens's own verdict, computed independently from the same chart: Favorable — matches Lilly's.
How the engine reasoned
- The ascendant is at Libra 13.36° — the 1st-house cusp, standing for the querent.
- Querent is VENUS (ruler of the 1st house); quesited is MARS (ruler of house 2).
- VENUS (querent) dignity: essential -5, accidental +23, combined +18. (CA p.115)
- MARS (quesited) dignity: essential -5, accidental +14, combined +9. (CA p.115)
- Considerations before judgment: Ascendant is neither too early nor too late — chart is fit to judge. (CA p.121)
- MARS, a malefic, is in the 1st house (Libra 16.19°) — traditionally an affliction to the ascendant and the querent. (CA p.115)
- No aspect currently forms between the significators.
- Reception: MARS receives VENUS by term/face (weak reception) (mutual); VENUS receives MARS by rulership (strong reception) (mutual). (CA p.112)
- Translation of light: MOON separates from MARS and applies to VENUS, carrying the connection between them. (CA p.110–113)
- Perfection by translation of light — not denied, so favorable.
- Overall verdict: favorable.
Manner: easy — perfection occurs smoothly by conjunction/sextile, and the collecting Moon supports the matter (combined dignity +0). One carrying aspect is wide (near the edge of orb) — weaker testimony.
