Void of Course Moon in Horary Astrology
In horary astrology, the Moon is void of course when she won't complete any more applying aspects before leaving her current sign -- not simply "no aspect happening right now." It's traditionally read as a sign that little will come of the matter, or that it will proceed on its own with no outside help.
Horary astrology is a traditional, rule-based symbolic practice with no empirical scientific basis -- treat this page, and Querens itself, as entertainment and a genuinely interesting historical system, not fact.
What Lilly says
Christian Astrology, p.112 (1647 ed.)
Lilly's own definition is precise: a planet is void of course "when he is separated from a Planet, nor doth forthwith, during his being in that Sign, apply to any other." The key phrase is during his being in that sign -- an applying aspect that's simply too slow to complete before the Moon changes signs still counts as void of course.
How Querens reads this
Querens's void-of-course check follows that exact definition rather than the common simplification ("no further applying aspect at all"): it checks whether any of the Moon's applying aspects will actually perfect before she exits her current sign, using real ephemeris motion rather than degree-counting. If none will, the Moon is void of course. This is one of the considerations before judgment shown on every reading -- Querens treats it as context to weigh, not an automatic verdict.

Frequently asked questions
- What does void of course mean for the Moon?
- The Moon is void of course when none of her current applying aspects will perfect before she leaves her current sign.
- Is a void of course Moon always a 'no' in horary?
- Traditionally it leans toward "nothing will come of it" or "it proceeds without outside help," but it's one factor among several, not an automatic verdict.
- How is void of course different from just having no current aspect?
- A planet can have no aspect in exact orb right now but still apply to one before changing signs -- that planet isn't void of course. The test is whether any aspect will complete before the sign changes, not just whether one is exact today.
